A Little Info about Me and my Technical Ramblings

Tara E. Walker is a Technical Evangelist in Microsoft’s Developer and Platform Evangelism group (the Microsoft employee formerly know as a Developer Evangelist).  She has been with Microsoft for 10+ years and is currently based in Atlanta, GA working with software engineers, developers, and students across the Greater Southeast area.   Prior to joining Microsoft, Tara spent 9 years working as a Software Engineer/Developer working with companies at various Fortune 500 companies on development projects on varying platforms including Unix, Linux,  Microsoft technologies using a variety of programming languages.

As a Technical Evangelist, Tara spreads the “good word” about all things development and software engineering.  Currently, she is focusing on helping programmers and developers build tablet, mobile, and cross-platform applications with Microsoft technologies and languages. She has been featured in several online and print news articles for her work with students and minorities around Imagine Cup and various technology development initiatives.

Recently, her technical focus development area has been with Windows 8 and Cross-Platform App and Game development, however she leverages her knowledge around Windows Phone 8, Kinect, and Azure Mobile Services when engaging with developers. Tara’s self-imposed goal is to help developers, professional and student alike, realize they don’t have to just be a consumer of technology they can make new technology for us all.  Tara enjoys getting to “play” with the cross-platform technologies like Xamarin products, as well as, dabbling with JavaScript, WinJS, Azure, and Kinect Development and every now and then she gets to revisit her Roots and dabble with C++.

Bottom line….Tara is simply a proud Geek Girl trying to change the world One Line of Code At A Time.
